What Really Triggers Breakthrough Changes In Organizations?

Although Tom Peters and I haven’t really stayed in touch over the past few years, his thoughts always resonate with me. This especially includes his keenly honed insights regarding the things which trigger and lead to the greatest ongoing improvements for organizations, companies, teams, and individual leaders. As of late, one thing that has been at the forefront of my thoughts is the realm of volunteer organizations intended to be of service to other people. How easily such organizations and would-be leaders lose sight of the mission and how quickly they become obsolete due to lack of listening and lack of interest and instead of trying to be “servant leaders” individuals become “self-serving” leaders. That’s when the proverbial “apple cart” frequently gets more than upset — it gets replaced by one that’s more appealing to people who really care about good apples. This video clip of Tom speaking describes it well.
